Kevin Feige reveals when X-Men will appear in Marvel Cinematic Universe
Kevin Feige indicated the mutants will come into focus in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige has teased the introduction of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Even since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019, fans have been wondering when the X-Men, a Fox property, would appear in the MCU, and they got a taste for it earlier this year when Hugh Jackman returned as the mutant Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine.
During a virtual live appearance at the opening of the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore on Wednesday, Feige discussed the upcoming film Thunderbolts*, saying it’s “what Marvel is all about”.
“It’s taking characters from all different types of places and franchises and putting them together,” he continued, reports Deadline. “That’s what the Avengers is, that’s what Guardians of the Galaxy is.”
He then teased the introduction of the X-Men, indicating that certain characters will appear in the upcoming slate of films before coming into focus in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
“I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognise,” he teased. “Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, (it’s) one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.”
Before Secret Wars, Marvel will release Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday.
Sharing an update on the Fantastic Four reboot, Feige revealed that his stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will finish filming next week.
“They wrap next week, the movie comes out next summer, and then all those characters go right into the next Avengers movies, so I’m very excited for the future of the Fantastic Four,” he shared.
