Brad Pitt believes Ocean’s Eleven franchise ‘lost its way’ after first film

Brad Pitt felt like his character lost his dynamic after the first film.

Brad Pitt feels like the Ocean’s Eleven franchise “lost its way” after the first film.

The 2001 star-studded heist caper starred George Clooney as Danny Ocean and Pitt as his friend and partner in crime Robert ‘Rusty’ Ryan.

While Pitt enjoyed their dynamic in the first film, he felt like that relationship diminished as the cast got bigger for the sequels Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen.

“I feel like we lost our way after the first one, or at least my guy, because he was kind of the DuVall consigliere guy to George’s Danny. I liked that much more,” he said on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, referring to Robert DuVall’s character in The Godfather.

“You know when you watch CSI or something and they’re trying to give a speech but they’ve got to give each actor one line? They just pick up each line. Just equal distribution.”

When Shepard added that “everyone needs a moment”, the Oscar-winning actor replied, “Yes, we kind of went that way.”

Despite his criticism of the 2004 and 2007 sequels, Clooney revealed to E! News last year that Pitt and the rest of the original cast were on board to make a fourth film.

Discussing the fourth instalment to the same publication earlier this month, the Se7en star said, “If that were to happen, I do know that there is a script out there that Mr. Clooney has developed, and it’s pretty damn tasty.”

The original cast also included Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Don Cheadle and Elliott Gould, among others.
