Sarah Michelle Gellar breaks silence on Ready or Not sequel casting
Sarah Michelle Gellar was a huge fan of the 2019 original.
Sarah Michelle Gellar has broken her silence about her role in the sequel to the 2019 horror Ready or Not.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress was added to the cast of Ready or Not: Here I Come alongside the likes of Elijah Wood, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and David Cronenberg in late April.
They join the original film’s star Samara Weaving and previously announced newcomer Kathryn Newton in the sequel, which is currently in production in Toronto, Canada.
During a recent appearance on the Today show, Gellar revealed she had just flown from the set. However, she remained coy when pressed for details about the film and her character.
“(I can tell you) absolutely nothing! They have sworn us to all secrecy – I can’t even tell you my character’s name!” she said.
However, the Cruel Intentions star did share that she was a huge fan of the original and wishes she’d been involved in it.
“Well, it’s a sequel to Ready or Not, which, it was one of those movies when I saw, it I was like, ‘Why couldn’t I be in that movie? I wanna play that role, 15 years ago,’ but then here I am,” she remarked.
The first film starred Weaving as Grace, a new bride whose wedding night turns into a terrifying fight for survival when her spouse’s wealthy family forces her to take part in a sinister game.
The sequel will once again be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, collectively known as Radio Silence.
It does not yet have a release date.
