Blake Lively loves unearthing ‘treasure’ in movie scripts
The It Ends with Us actress also revealed her favourite director.
Blake Lively loves finding “treasure” in movie scripts that others have overlooked.
In new cover interview with Vogue, the It Ends with Us actress revealed she enjoys adding something new to each character she plays.
“A blank page is not nearly as exciting to me as starting with a script and finding something people have overlooked,” she explained. “Saying no, no, no, there’s something there! To me, it’s a treasure hunt.
She added: “And so when I can see the treasure, then I get to be an archaeologist. I get to excavate, I get to carve it out and find this thing and show people the value in it. That, to me, is what I love.”
Lively also discussed her joy at working with Baz Luhrmann for the Vogue shoot.
The 36-year-old star is a huge fan of the filmmaker and had his signed poster on the wall of her childhood bedroom.
“I’m just gonna go out on a limb and say Baz is my favourite director,” she smiled. “I just love Baz so much. Because he celebrates love. Nobody does love like that.”
Luhrmann was equally as effusive about Lively when asked to comment on the star’s rise to fame.
“It may sound corny, but a movie star projects light,” he explained. “They’re more luminous in a scene or on the screen. And while they can be deeply, deeply authentic and real, they are also aspirational in their glamour, their humanity.”
